Music In Common
Music In Common, Inc. (MiC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to strengthen, empower, educate, and connect communities through the universal language of music by providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and collaborations that can lead to positive social change.
In an effort to deepen understanding between the Abrahamic faiths, Music in Common brings together Jewish, Muslim, and Christian youth to write, record, and perform a song together. In the process they discover common ground while learning about each other’s faiths and cultures. The immersive experience sharpens the valuable life skills of collaboration, communication, and compromise.
In 2015 local musician Jason Feddy (assisted by musicians Alisa Eisenberg, Amani Labban Kabbara, Sinan Isik and Warren Sellars) brought MiC to Orange County to address rising intolerance throughout the region. “If we are to be voices for peace among peoples, we have to get to know each other,” Feddy states.
Music in Common participants Aria Gittleson, Arthur “Trey” Carlisle, and Sarah Sayed are proud to present their perspectives at TEDx Mission Viejo.
