Scot Shier

TEDx Mission Viejo

Scot originally hails from Seattle, but after arriving to California in 1983, could never leave. A graduate of the US Air Force Academy, Scot served our country for ten years, primarily in the top-secret spy satellite arena (he’d tell you more, but then he’d have to kill you!)

In 1993, Scot decided to convert his engineering skills into finance and became an investment adviser. Additionally, Scot is a professor of investment planning at UC Irvine and the University of Redlands.

Scot is also active in the local community, holding a term as President of the Mission Viejo Chamber of Commerce, as Commissioner & Past Chairman of the Investment Advisory Commission for the city of Mission Viejo, as board member of the Financial Planning Association in Orange County, and as a past Area Governor for Toastmasters International.

Last and very much not least, Scot is the proud father of five children all 20 years of age and in college- yes, quintuplets!
